How Jake went from $2k a month to $10k a month in 4 months

Jake dropped another $10K on a program, almost gave up, then 4 months later hit his first $10K month. Here is exactly what changed.

Short answer

How did Jake double his close rate on a bad sales offer?

I had Jake catch emotional language patterns, the wants versus needs stuff. Someone says "I'd like to be at the beach" instead of stating a real need, and most reps miss it. Once he started catching it every time, his close rate went from 20% to 40%, even on a bad offer, and objectionless closes got way more common.

I still remember Jake pacing around his parents' basement at 10pm, panicking about dropping another band on a program. Four months later he hit his first $10K month. This is his story, not a highlight reel, the real messy middle too.

The $10K program that taught him nothing

Before Jake ever talked to me, he dropped 10 grand on a "high ticket training with placement" program. Sounded great on paper. In reality, the only placements were into the owner's own weird affiliate companies.

"It was like training with placement, but the placement was only for affiliate companies that the main guy had. It was just more of like a pyramid scheme of funneling reps into his stuff."

The training itself was all mindset fluff. No script. No reasons behind anything.

"They definitely didn't teach us why we were doing the script."

He told me he went through a phase where he genuinely wondered if that was all there was to high ticket sales. Like understanding people and psychology just stopped at vague motivational talk. He was confused as hell, and honestly, I don't blame him. A lot of guys get fed that same garbage and think it's normal.

The 10pm phone call that changed everything

Jake found my stuff on YouTube after getting nowhere with that program and nowhere with the guy training him at his job. He was two months into a role, had made maybe $2,000 total, and was sitting on the edge of quitting the entire industry.

He called me one night, pacing around his parents' basement.

"I am I really about to drop another band on this shit."

That's the exact headspace a lot of closers get stuck in. You spent money already, it didn't work, and now you're terrified to spend again. I gave him the same objection handle I'd give any prospect sitting at that crossroads.

"If nothing happens, nothing happens, right? We're at the crossroads. We're the deer in headlights. We got to either get hit by the car or shape that fear into taking massive action."

He told me afterward it didn't feel pushy. It felt like I was on his team. That's the whole point of handling an objection right. You're not forcing someone, you're helping them see the choice they're already stuck inside of.

First offer wasn't even good, and he still doubled his close rate

Here's the part people skip over. Jake joined me while he was still on a bad offer. I told him straight up I didn't think the offer was good. He wanted to stick it out anyway, so we did.

Even on a bad offer, the shift was immediate.

"My close rate went from like 20% to like 40."

Not overnight. Gradual. But real. What actually moved the needle wasn't some trick. It was understanding the prospect instead of walking into the call just trying to sell them.

"I'm gonna ask the right questions and understand if they're even a fit. And if they are, then hell yeah, we're going to get them in the right way and make them feel good about the decision too."

The specific skill that clicked for him was catching emotional language patterns, the wants versus needs stuff. Someone says "I'd like to be at the beach" instead of stating an actual need, and most reps never catch that. Jake started catching it every time.

"I would have never caught a clue on that before. But now it's like you squash it in the butt, and dude, it honestly makes objectionless closes a lot more common."

And when you reframe things the right way, the whole dynamic on the call shifts.

"With so much more respect, your authority goes through the roof. The call becomes so much easier."

The offer fell through, and that's when the real opportunity showed up

Eventually the ceiling I warned him about hit. The offer he was on, teaching people how to start their own business, fell apart when the owner decided to pivot into content and marketing instead of scaling the info product.

But Jake had already been quietly networking. Months earlier I'd connected him with a guy I'd mentored who was crushing it in fitness coaching. Jake sent him some calls, wasn't the best at the time, didn't get hired right away, but stayed in touch.

That relationship paid off. Right when his offer collapsed, a friend of that same fitness guy reached out on WhatsApp looking for a long term closer. Jake hopped on a call. That was it.

"I really connected with those guys. I love where I'm at now dude. I don't see myself leaving."

Negotiating 15% commissions

Jake had two offers to pick from when things lined up, the fitness gig and a marketing company with more theoretical upside. He picked fitness because he genuinely loved it, not because the number on paper was bigger.

I told him exactly how to use his leverage in that moment.

"Ask for more. Work your way down. Lock it in."

He walked in and negotiated his way up to 15% commission.

"Thanks to you, I was able to negotiate commissions up to 15%, which is a game changer dude."

That's not luck. That's knowing you have options and using them instead of taking whatever number gets handed to you.

From $2K to $10K in four months

Jake's best month landed right before he left for a trip to Italy. $10,000. His first time hitting that number.

"10K man. The golden number, bro. Finally had a golden number."

Four to five months, from maxing out at $2,000 to a $10K month. That's five times his income. And like most people who finally hit the number they'd been chasing, it didn't feel as good as he thought it would.

"Once you make $10,000 a month, you realize how little $10,000 is."

That's not me being dismissive of the win. It's just true. The goalpost moves the second you hit it. Jake felt it immediately, already thinking about what's next instead of sitting in the win.

The biggest shift for him wasn't the money though, it was confidence. He used to sit down at his computer hoping the call in front of him was an easy layup.

"I used to do that all the time, dude. I was like praying that it's a layup. Now I get on and it's like whatever dragon's in front of me, I know I'm going to slay it or at least do my best."

The bottom line

Jake didn't get lucky. He got burned by a $10K program, almost quit, stayed on a bad offer long enough to prove the skill worked, then used that skill and his network to land a better offer with better commissions. Four months later, $10K a month.

If you're stuck where he was, staring down another investment, terrified you'll get burned again, that fear doesn't go away on its own. You either let it freeze you at the crossroads or you shape it into action. Jake's advice to anyone in the pit of despair right now is simple.

"Put your head down and work. Just grind. Have that vision. Put it on your wall if you need to."

The offers are out there. The space is only getting better. The only missing link is getting around the right people and actually doing the work once you do.
